Bachelor of Science in Psychology (392)

The bachelor’s in psychology offers students the flexibility to gain an overall understanding of the field or specialize in several areas.  There is great demand for graduates with psychology degrees. Employers need people with communication skills; the ability to collect, organize, analyze and interpret data; and an understanding of human behavior. Psychology graduates may work in human resources or communications, while further education will open paths toward clinical practice and research.  The department has a diverse faculty with backgrounds in clinical and counseling psychology.

Interested students may also earn a concentration in Prevention Specialist or Substance Abuse.  After meeting the academic requirements for the concentration, students can apply to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals – Office for Addictive Disorder – Addictive Disorders Regulatory Authority for a Counselor-In-Training, Certification or Licensure as an addiction professional.
